20th Estonian Summer School on Computer and Systems Science

We are excited to invite you to the 20th Estonian Summer School on Computer and Systems Science (ESSCaSS) on 14-16 August at the University of Tartu Delta Study and Research Building. For more information and registration, visit the offical website.

ESSCaSS is an annual international event dedicated to PhD and MSc students, postdocs, and faculty members. Join us for an enriching experience that promotes interdisciplinary education among graduate students specializing in (but not limited to) computer science, systems science, software engineering, artificial intelligence, and bioinformatics. ESSCaSS plays a vital role in doctoral education in Estonia.

The second UniTartuCS Podcast with Dan Bogdanov of Cybernetica

For our second UniTartuCS podcast, we hosted our alumnus Dan Bogdanov, Chief Scientific Officer / Director of the Information Security Research Institute at Cybernetica. Hear his thoughts on student life, early computers, higher education, industry collaboration and computer games! The podcast is in Estonian.

UniTartuCS offering a free Data Science Webcourse this autumn

The Institute of Computer Science is offering a free practical data science web course worth 5 ECTS starting this autumn. The course is in Estonian. Read more about the conditions and apply before August 1st.

2.5 million € grant awarded to firm co-founded by UniTartuCS lecturer Dmytro Fishman

Thanks to cutting-edge research at the Institute of Computer Science, BetterMedicine, a company that automates the analysis of cancer CT scans, has received a boost. BetterMedicine was recently awarded a €2.5 million grant from the European Innovation Council's Accelerator.

Let's meet at the Digit Conference 2023

The University of Tartu Institute of Computer Science will take part in Digit 2023. You can meet us in our own conference box area as well as listen to our speaker on the main stage, Mark Fišel, Head of the Chair of Natural Language Processing.

Microdegrees offered by the Institute of Computer Science

The Institute of Computer Science will offer the following microdegrees in the coming autumn of the 2023/24 academic year:

• Informaatika didaktika (EST) 
• Data Science
• Foundations of Information Technology
• Cloud-native application design and DevOps
• Systems Analysis
• Digital Product Management

Registration for the microdegrees is now open. Microdegrees are an excellent way to continue and reinforce your education in manageable chunks.
