The Institute of Computer Science at sTARTUp Day 2024

 
 
 
 

The Institute of Computer Science will be taking part of sTARTUp Day 2024 this January with multiple events and exhibitions!

 

On 25 January from 13:10 on the Insight Stage, Professor of Information Systems Marlon Dumas will be giving a presentation titled How GenAI Will (Not) Change Your BusinessRead a recent interview with him in Research In Estonia on the topic.

 

We are hosting a Data Science Seminar on 24 January titled Education in the age of big data and artificial intelligence. The seminar focuses on EdTech, the usage of data and artificial intelligence and is curated by Assoc. Prof. Jaan Aru.

 

On 24 January, our Sandbox is hosting a workshop titled Think Like A Designer. It's a great way to gain a foundational understanding of the Design Thinking methodology and practical experience in applying it to real-world challenges.

 

We are also present in the UniTartu demo exhibition area on 25-26 January, where we will show off all kinds of solutions and projects our scientists have been working on. Come and check for yourself!

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence to start work in Estonia

 
 
 
 

The Estonian Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence, led by the University of Tartu’s Institute of Computer Science, will address scientific issues of importance to Estonia. The government will support the centre of excellence with 7 million euros over seven years. 

 

Led by Associate Professor Meelis Kull, the centre of excellence will advance innovative methodologies to develop reliable AI systems. These methodologies are applied to further AI capabilities in key Estonian sectors, including e-governance, healthcare, business process management, and cybersecurity. Tallinn University of Technology and Cybernetica AS will be involved in the centre’s work as partners.

University of Tartu Pro Game Jam 2024 and Computer Graphics Projects Expo 2024

 
 
 
 

We invite all gaming enthusiasts to participate in the University of Tartu Pro Game Jam on January 26-28. The event takes place in parallel online and at the UT Delta Study Building. Whether this is your first or hundredth game created, this is your moment to shine!

 

In addition, have you ever wondered what they do in computer graphics classes or different computer graphics-related companies? Now it is your chance to find out! On 28 February, for the sixth time, the Delta Career Day will bring together companies, institutions, and students from the University of Tartu. On that day, the university's sports club becomes an exciting meeting place for employers and students of IT, mathematics, statistics, robotics, electronics, computer engineering and economics.

A popular course “Programming for beginners“ starts in February. The course is in Estonian. It is suited for you if you have no previous experience in programming. Fulfil your New Year’s resolution and learn something new or recommend a valuable course to your friend! Participation costs 100 euros. The registration deadline is February 9.

Micro-credential programme “Cyber Policy and Law”

 

This interdisciplinary micro-credential program from the University of Tartu focuses on cyberpolitics, law, and security, offering a concise overview of key concepts and critical insights for navigating the cyber landscape.
